Honda CR-V Oil Type

2024 Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid

Every six months or 7,500 miles, your Honda CR-V oil needs to be changed for the best results on McComb drives. It’s part of the regular maintenance schedule that keeps your fuel-efficient and reliable Honda SUV in great shape for many years. Read our guide to the Honda CR-V oil type, whether you love handling DIY oil changes yourself or just want to know the Honda CR-V oil that’s going into your exact model. We’ll also cover how to reset the oil life on a Honda CR-V in your Hammond garage.

What Is the Right Honda CR-V Oil Type?

The recommended Honda CR-V oil type is 0W-20. We highly suggest OEM Honda full synthetic oil because it lasts longer, keeps your engine cleaner, and is perfectly suited for your Honda CR-V engine. Our factory-trained technicians can point you to the right Honda CR-V oil for your vehicle. Always look at your owner’s manual to see the exact Honda CR-V oil you should put in the engine.

Honda CR-V Oil: Differences Between Conventional & Synthetic

The best Honda CR-V oil type for your SUV is full synthetic. It outlasts conventional oil because it’s refined more than conventional (regular) oil. Because of this, there is less sludge build-up in the engine. Full synthetic oil runs cleaner, lasts longer, and reduces the oil changes you’ll need.

A conventional oil change is typically from 3,000 to 5,000 miles, while full synthetic oil changes typically happen every 7,500 to 10,000 miles. You’ll pay for two full synthetic oil changes for every three to five conventional oil changes, saving you money in the long run. Your engine will last longer because it stays cleaner.
