How to Connect to Honda Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™

Most modern vehicles you’ll find today, including those in the new Honda lineup, like the fuel-efficient Honda Accord and the family-friendly Honda CR-V, come with connectivity to Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. How to Connect to Honda’s Apple CarPlay®

For Apple CarPlay®, make sure you have an iPhone 5 or later version of the smartphone. You’ll also need to be in an area that supports CarPlay. 

Follow these steps to connect your smartphone to your Honda:

1. Go to Settings > Siri & Search on your iPhone.
2. Turn Siri on.
3. Plug your phone into the CarPlay USB port, which should be labeled with the CarPlay logo.
4. If your car supports a wireless Bluetooth® connection, go to Settings > General > CarPlay > Available Cars.
5. Select your vehicle.
6. Start your vehicle and leave it running.
7. Ask Siri for what you need by either pressing and holding the Voice Control button on your steering wheel or touching and holding the CarPlay Home button on your touchscreen until Siri appears.
8. Now your Honda should be connected to Apple CarPlay®!

How to Connect to Honda’s Android Auto™ 

Your smartphone will need to be running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or a more recent version. We’ve found that Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) works best. Here’s how to connect Android Auto™:

1. Turn on Android Auto™ in your car’s settings.
2. Download the Android Auto™ app from Google Play. When you plug your smartphone into your car with the compatible USB cable, you’ll receive a prompt to download the app.
3. Unlock your phone’s screen.
4. Review the Safety Information and Android Auto™ permissions.
5. Turn on notifications for Android Auto™.
6. On your vehicle’s display, select Android Auto™.
